Popular resistance to petrol price rises has been continuously sparking protests around Indonesia. Since the Indonesian government officially announced a fuel price rise on May 23, 2008, resistance has spread across the country.

The anti-war movement must step up its campaign for the immediate withdrawal of all troops from Afghanistan. Although Australian public sentiment is to see an end to any involvement in the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, the Rudd Labor government’s budget demonstrates its commitment to sustained increases in military funding to sustain Australian involvement in both the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. The excuse in relation to Afghanistan is that Australian troops are aiding in “reconstruction” efforts.

On May 28, Nepal entered a new era when the constituent assembly — in its first meeting since the April 10 elections — overwhelming voted to abolish the 40-year-old monarchy and declare Nepal a democratic republic.
The interim government that had governed Nepal for the previous three years declared Nepal to be a secular republic last year, but this had to be ratified by the assembly. In the assembly’s first sitting, all but four members of the 564 members voted to officially create the Democratic Republic of Nepal.
On June 1, the National Liberation Front (FPN), a new alliance of which the KPRM-PRD is a part of, held a demonstration of 700, which began outside the Hotel Indonesia then marched on the World Bank offices. The main slogans were:
1. SBY-JK and other elite political parties are bankrupt! Nationalise the mining and gas industries and place them under people's control!
2. Kick out the World Bank from Indonesia, SBY-JK and other elite political parties have yielded to its demands for fuel price hikes!

Reverend Esron Abisay is the Head of Evangelical Christian Church of North Biak. He is also one of KPKC members Justice, Peace, Integrity of Creation (JPIC).
In May 2008, he spent time to visit his flock in the Tablasupa villages in Jayapura destrict. When he was there he received information about a conflict in Tablasupa villages about the presence of Nickel Mining Exploitation in Tablasupa villages.
He wrote a report about this conflict and he sent to out to all sides.
“The Indonesian military came to my village fully armed with guns, searching inside our homes for T shirts, wrist bands, hats, bags -- anything with the Morning Star on it, or “Papua Merdeka” or just “West Papua”. When they found something, they beat that person and stripped them naked in front of the whole village.”

Despite the April 27 death of Lance Corporal Jason Marks, the fifth Australian soldier killed in Afghanistan since the 2001 US-led invasion, and subsequent allegations of the mistreatment of Afghan prisoners of war by Australian troops, the there are no plans to withdraw any of the 1000 Australian troops from Afghanistan.

May 23; Semarang, Central Java - About 200 protesters from Students and People Accuse Front demonstrated in front of Central Java Provincial parliament in Semarang. The action front, consisted of LMND, GMNI, HMI, PMII, and KAMMI, protested against fuel price rise and condemn it as a form of imperialist interest in Indonesia.

A report received from the KPKC Synod GKI (Protestant Church) in West Papua documents how a West Papuan man , Alex Wanda (aged 26) was forced to rape his fiancée, Helen Wali (aged 25 ) by 8 Indonesian Naval marines in Hamadi, Jayapura. The naval personal also photographed the forced rape on their mobile phones and abused Helen Wali, squeezing her breasts and touching her genitals.
